Field Service Technician II

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician II to join a leading wireless communications organization in St. Paul, MN. This role is 100% onsite/local field-based and will support the installation, troubleshooting, programming, repair, and maintenance of wireless communication systems. The Field Service Technician II will independently diagnose and resolve customer issues while supporting a wide range of two-way radio and wireless communications equipment.

Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician II include:

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, program, and maintain two-way radio and wireless communications systems
• Create and modify mid-level radio programming codeplugs, including 12+ channels, trunking, and multiple zones
• Support UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz radio systems, dispatch consoles, repeaters, and base stations
• Troubleshoot and service BDA/DAS systems, wireless broadband equipment, microwave systems, and related communications infrastructure
• Perform RF and electronic testing using spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, watt meters, TDRs/FDRs, and multimeters
• Interpret schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
• Diagnose RF, digital, audio, electronic, and communications system issues
• Apply knowledge of TCP/IP, NIC programming, battery backup systems, multicouplers, and duplexers
• Recommend appropriate equipment and hardware based on customer requirements
• Provide hands-on technical support directly to customers
• Support regional projects requiring occasional overnight travel and on-call availability

Qualifications of the Field Service Technician II include:

• 3+ years of experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, or programming two-way radio or wireless communications systems
• Experience with radio manufacturers such as Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex, Harris, or EF Johnson
• Strong understanding of two-way radio theory and RF propagation
• Experience with repeaters, base stations, antennas, duplexers, and multicouplers
• Hands-on experience using RF/electronic test equipment
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams
• BDA/DAS experience is highly desirable
• Motorola, ETA, NICET, CET, OSHA, or related industry certifications are highly desirable
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to travel regionally, including occasional overnight assignments and on-call support
• Candidates without all applicable certifications may be considered with the expectation that certifications will be obtained within 6 months of employment; BearCom provides certification support

Compensation for the Field Service Technician II includes:

• Hourly Rate: $28.00–$36.00/hour, depending on experience
