Sr Data Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to lead the design and implementation of a modern, cloud-based data platform supporting global luxury travel bookings. The Sr. Data Engineer will play a key role in building scalable data solutions, optimizing integrations, and mentoring team members within a collaborative, high-impact environment. This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced data professional who thrives in smaller organizations and is passionate about driving data innovation through modern cloud technologies.

Responsibilities of the Sr. Data Engineer:

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows supporting business-critical systems and analytics.
• Utilize Microsoft Azure Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Spark, and Python to automate and enhance complex data processes.
• Develop and maintain API integrations (REST and SOAP) while collaborating with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, documentation, and guidance on data engineering best practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data platform performance, ensuring reliability, scalability, and minimal downtime.

Qualifications of the Sr. Data Engineer:

• 5+ years of data engineering experience with strong expertise in SQL, Python, and modern data platforms.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure Fabric preferred; candidates with Snowflake or Databricks experience will also be considered.
• Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory and strong understanding of ETL and data modeling concepts.
• Leadership experience within a small or mid-sized environment, with a demonstrated ability to mentor team members and lead technical initiatives.
• Must reside in the Eastern or Central Time Zone and be authorized to work in the United States.

Compensation for the Sr. Data Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually
