Research Scientist

Piper Health & Sciences is seeking a Research Scientist to join a growing life sciences organization in the Greater Kalamazoo, MI area. This is a unique opportunity for candidates with a strong cell & gene therapy background who are looking to move away from the bench.

Responsibilities for the Research Scientist include:

·       Serve as Principal Investigator and/or Study Director for internal and external in vitro studies.

·       Provide knowledge and expertise regarding biochemistry and molecular biology methods (particularly nucleic acid analysis, amplification, qPCR, RT-qPCR, and molecular cloning).  

·       Manage and maintain relationships with external clients such as CROs, sponsors, pharmaceutical companies, etc.

·       Communicate with management and stakeholders regarding any issues, changes, and/or requirements with the project.

·       Oversee technical conduct of the study to ensure both the study and its results are within accordance with any applicable regulatory agencies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

·       Ensure accurate completion, reporting, and archiving of study documents.

·       Serve as Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on the cell and gene therapy industry for the company.

Qualifications for the Research Scientist include:

·       3+ years of industry experience, particularly within cell and gene therapy.

·       Strong expertise and direct experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR/qPCR, RT-qPCR and molecular cloning.

·       Experience conducting/leading studies following strict adherence to GLP guidelines.

·       PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field is required.

Compensation for the Research Scientist includes:

·       Salary Range: approximately $80,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience
