Microsoft System Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Microsoft System Engineer (Hybrid) to join a national non-profit cooperative based in Sterling, VA. The Microsoft System Engineer will be responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure in cloud environments. This position will be hybrid 3 days per week in Sterling, VA!

Responsibilities of Microsoft System Engineer include:

• Design, recommend, plan, and implement enhancements to the systems infrastructure.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems.
• Troubleshoot issues with server hardware and applications software.
• Establish and document standards and procedures for management review.
• Manage daily administration tasks in SharePoint, including user management and permissions.
• Secure servers and systems to ensure sound and secure computing practices.
• Evaluate and analyze system performance and metrics to recommend service improvements.

Qualifications for the Microsoft System Engineer include:                                                                                            

• 7+ years of experience as a Windows Server Administrator in cloud environments.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and analysis with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of server, network architecture, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with cloud-based architectures (Azure, AWS).
• Ability to support applications and infrastructure on IaaS and PaaS platforms.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Servers, Active Directory (Azure AD), and VMware.
• Understanding of information security principles and virtualization technologies.
• Proficiency in creating and troubleshooting shell scripts in PowerShell or Python.
• Ability to automate changes to address security vulnerabilities.
• Experience with O365, SharePoint, IIS, SQL Server, and SharePoint Online.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related technical degree, or equivalent work experience.

Compensation for the Microsoft System Engineer include:

• Salary Range: $130,000 – $150,000
