Senior Database Engineer

Piper Companies is currently seeking a Senior Database Engineer to work Hybrid 1 day a week in Columbia, MD for a company offering skilled nursing, physical rehabilitation, companion care, respite care, and behavioral care for individuals with chronic and acute illnesses and disabilities.  The Senior Database Engineer will design and implement sophisticated, enterprise-grade data security, database architecture, and ETL solutions to fulfill business requirements and objectives.

Responsibilities for the Senior Database Engineer include:

·       Provide technical expertise in database architecture, design, development, implementation, information storage, retrieval, data flow, and analysis.

·       Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business and IT requirements, aiding in the formation of IT strategies at the database layer. This includes working with vendors, other IT teams, and leadership to review design and budget needs.

·       Holistically analyze issues, from the application tier to the database and storage.

·       Recommend new database technologies and architectures.

·       Develop and implement strategies for disaster recovery, data recovery procedures, and contingency planning.

·       Ensure database systems' high availability, reliability, and observability through continuous enhancement.

Required Qualifications for the Senior Database Engineer include:

·       10-12 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration, database architecture/design/implementation

·       Extensive experience with MSSQL 2016-2019, including the ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex TSQL queries and stored procedures

·       Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (Agile, SCRUM, DevOps), Project Management Lifecycle, and IT Service Management (ITIL) processes

·       Proficiency in PowerShell Scripting/Programming

·       Experience with SQL Server high availability solutions such as database replication and AlwaysOn Availability Groups

· Subject Matter Expert in PowerBI

·       Proven experience with large datasets, data warehousing, ETL processes and tools, DTS/SSIS packages

·       Bachelor's Degree preferred

Compensation for the Senior Database Engineer include:

·       $62.50 - $70.50 per hour **Depends on level of degree/combined years of experience**
