Purification Scientist

Piper Companies is actively seeking a Purification Scientist to join a biotechnology company focusing on protein engineering. This an onsite role in the greater Bedford PA area.

Responsibilities for Purification Scientist:

• Troubleshoot and improve downstream processes for the purification of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies and proteins within downstream process development
• Improve the purification and filtration process utilizing equipment and techniques including AKTA chromatography, affinity columns, nanofiltration, microfiltration, and high-speed pumps
• Oversee labeling of antibodies, column packing, and conjugation processes
• Lead projects from start to finish including design of experiment, scheduling, setting up, executing, troubleshooting, and writing up reports
• Write, review and revise batch records, protocols, reports and presentations

Technical Requirements for Purification Scientist:

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with protein and antibody purification, downstream manufacturing and process development in a biopharmaceutical environment
• Strong background with affinity columns and chromatography systems
• Ability to work on multiple projects at a time through strong analytical and organizational skills
• Strong technical writing skills
• Excellent communication skills and presentation skills
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or other related field

Compensation & Benefits for Purification Scientist:

• Compensation: $90,000 – $150,000, based on experience
