Database Engineer

Piper Enterprise Solutions is seeking a Database Engineer for a company in Columbia, MD that offers great hybrid flexibility to collaborate with the Information Security team to assess, establish, and implement data security standards, encompassing risk management, access control, data obfuscation, and encryption.

Responsibilities for the Database Engineer:

• Provide technical expertise for database architecture, design, development, and implementation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business and IT requirements and form IT strategies.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and observability of database systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and data corruption.
• Identify and enforce standards for data security, including encryption and obfuscation.

Qualifications for the Database Engineer:

• 10-12 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration and database architecture.
• Extensive experience with MSSQL 2016-2019, including TSQL queries and stored procedures.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting/programming.
• Experience with SQL Server high availability solutions and large datasets, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
• Knowledge of cloud database environments, particularly Microsoft Azure SQL Servers and databases.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Compensation for the Database Engineer:

• Salary range: $100,000 - $125,000 *based on experience*
