Network Engineer- Platform Security

Piper Companies is currently seeking a Network Engineer for a remote, long-term opportunity. The Network Engineer will sit within a NOC/SOC, supporting all tools and working with engineering teams to implement solutions. This role requires a solid understanding of network protocols, firewalls, IDS/IPS systems, and VPNs.

Responsibilities of the Network Engineer:

·       Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Platform Development Networks.

·       Conduct comprehensive threat modeling to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities.

·       Develop and mature network security strategies, including micro-segmentation, Zero Trust architecture, and adaptive security policies.

·       Implement and automate network security requirements using Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

Qualifications of the Network Engineer:

·       Experience sitting within a NOC/SOC supporting all tools and working with engineering teams to implement solutions.

·       Knowledge of NIST 800-53, PCI, DISA, and STIGS.

·       Solid background managing IDS and firewalls manually.

·       Experience or interest in DevOps.

·       Expertise in on-premises environments (Layer 2, Layer 3, Layer 4).

·       Expertise in network protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPLS), firewalls (e.g., Cisco ASA/Firepower, Palo Alto NGFWs, Juniper SRX), IDS/IPS systems (e.g., Cisco Snort, Palo Alto Threat Prevention), and VPNs (e.g., IPsec, GlobalProtect, Cisco AnyConnect).

Compensation for the Network Engineer:

·       Competitive salary: $120,000 - $150,000
