Piper Companies is hiring an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer for a telecommunications company located in Morrisville, NC. The Electrical Hardware Design Engineer will collaborate with a multi-site team of hardware engineers to design and support a broad range of new and legacy products serving Carrier and Enterprise customers. The Electrical Hardware Design Engineer will need to work hybrid in Morrisville, NC.


Responsibilities for the Electrical Hardware Design Engineer:

  • Design and development of printed circuit boards and associated electro-mechanical equipment for telecommunications systems.
  • Prototype and production design documentation, testing, and team collaboration to meet time-to-market and cost objectives.
  • Ongoing support for production hardware, resolving issues through redesigns or component substitutions.

Requirements for the Electrical Hardware Design Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 5–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in telecom principles, embedded processor systems, and real-time computing.
  • Familiarity with standards like TDM, SONET, POTS, NEBS, and tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and telecom signal analyzers.
  • Proficiency in hardware design tools (Cadence, Verilog, VHDL) and strong communication skills.

Compensation for the Electrical Hardware Design Engineer:

  • $120,000 - $145,000 base salary
