Cable Technician

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Cable Technician. This job is located in Texas and will be On-Site. The Cable Technician will support project leads in the installation, termination, and testing of low-voltage systems across multiple technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to support a major Oracle project in Texas, helping deliver large-scale ISP and data center infrastructure solutions on a project valued at approximately $100M.

Responsibilities of the Cable Technician include:

• Install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling systems including copper and pre-terminated fiber infrastructure.
• Build telecom room infrastructure including racks, ladder racks, grounding, bonding, and network cabling components.
• Install and support devices such as card readers, cameras, wireless access points (WAPs), and other ISP infrastructure.
• Interpret blueprints, track materials and tools, troubleshoot cabling issues, and ensure installations meet industry and manufacturer standards.
• Follow OSHA and site safety requirements while maintaining a strong customer service mindset and collaborating effectively with project teams.

Qualifications for the Cable Technician include:

• Strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on problem-solving skills, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and processes.
• Experience with cable pulling, copper terminations, punch-down jacks, fiber porting, recutting sheets, and basic cable testing preferred.
• Experience with telecommunications, structured cabling, construction, electrical, mechanical, or other hands-on technical work preferred; entry-level candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
• Experience using cable testers such as Fluke or EXFO testers is a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints, troubleshoot cabling systems, and perform quality installations in commercial and data center environments.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, teamwork skills, and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities and leadership opportunities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, use aerial platforms, and work in commercial, education, healthcare, and data center environments.
• Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
• Safety Training Course, OSHA10 Safety Certification

Additional Information:

• 12-hour shifts available on either days (6:30 AM - 6:30 PM) or nights (6:30 PM - 6:30 AM).
• Project schedules may run up to 7 days per week; candidates with limited availability are still encouraged to apply.
• Employees will report to an off-site parking location and be shuttled to the project site.
• Daily stretch-and-flex meetings, scheduled breaks, and lunch periods are provided on site.
• The project site is remote; employees should plan to bring lunch or utilize available food trucks.

Compensation for the Cable Technician:

• Salary range: $40,000 - $55,000 *depending on experience*
