Jr. Network Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Junior Network Engineer to join a growing technology-focused organization in the Durham, NC area. The Junior Network Engineer will support day-to-day network operations, infrastructure maintenance, and on-premises systems while working within a hybrid environment. This Junior Network Engineer role is ideal for someone with a strong systems administration background looking to further develop their networking expertise in an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities of the Junior Network Engineer:

• Perform network maintenance activities including patching, cabling, and Layer 1 troubleshooting.

• Support and maintain on-premises network infrastructure and connectivity solutions.

• Assist with the implementation and integration of cloud service provider (CSP) environments within a hybrid infrastructure.

• Troubleshoot network, hardware, and connectivity issues across multiple locations and technologies.

• Collaborate with infrastructure and systems teams to ensure network reliability and performance.

• Monitor and document network configurations, procedures, and changes.

• Provide hands-on support for network equipment installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications of the Junior Network Engineer:

• 2+ years of experience in systems administration, network support, or network engineering.

• Hands-on experience with Layer 1 networking, patching, cabling, and physical infrastructure support.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across networking and infrastructure environments.

• Experience supporting on-premises environments with exposure to hybrid cloud technologies.

• CCNA certification required or equivalent networking knowledge.

• Familiarity with switches, routers, firewalls, and enterprise networking concepts.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Compensation for the Junior Network Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $90,000 - $115,000 depending on experience
