DevOps Network Security Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a DevOps Network Security Engineer to join a growing technology team in a contract to hire position who will work onsite Tuesday through Thursday in Raleigh, NC. The ideal DevOps Network Security Engineer has expertise in network security, firewall management, and cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on system stability and secure DevOps practices.

Responsibilities for the DevOps Network Security Engineer:

• Design, configure, and manage network security controls, including AWS security groups and VPN configurations.
• Strengthen and maintain firewall infrastructure across multiple regions (Fortigate preferred)
• Support secure CI/CD pipeline operations and infrastructure automation using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or CircleCI.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot application issues and support production environments.
• Proactively manage security patches, address vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with security standards.
• Participate in after-hours deployments, on-call rotations, and scheduled maintenance activities.
• Contribute to the management of hybrid Linux and Windows environments, including container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and AWS

Qualifications for the DevOps Network Security Engineer:

• 4+ years of experience in a Network Security or related DevOps role.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States and obtain and maintain an Active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS (console and CLI).
• Proficiency with Fortigate, Palo Alto, or similar firewall technologies.
• Experience with security tools such as vulnerability scanners and antivirus solutions.
• Solid background in CI/CD tools and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Salt, Chef, etc.).
• Proven expertise in Windows system administration.
• Deep understanding of Linux systems and container orchestration platforms.
• Experience managing and tuning SQL Server and PostgreSQL in production environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Compensation/Benefits for the DevOps Network Security Engineer:

• Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually
