Security Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Security engineer who can monitor and analyze cloud initiatives and security protocols. The security engineer will be remote based in RTP, NC.

Requirements for the Security Engineer include:

-       Contribute to the deployment and upkeep of essential systems, ensuring high availability and resilience across security operations.

-       Evaluate current environments to identify areas for improvement, recommend process optimizations, and assist in developing new operational procedures

-       Conduct regular audits to enforce security standards and ensure compliance with industry practices

-       Serve as an escalation point for SOC analysts, offering guidance during investigations and fostering skill development through mentorship

-       Help integrate and manage security tools, and engage with emerging technologies through hands-on experimentation and pilot testing

Qualifications for the Security Engineer include:

-       Hands-on experience with cloud security posture management and familiarity with AWS and Azure

-       Strong understanding of Windows and Linux servers

-       Understand services like lambda, IAM, ECR and others

-       Proficiency with infrastructure automation tools such as terraform and ansible

-       Proficiency with containerization tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins

-       Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git-based control

-       Knowledge of scripting tools such as Python

-       Splunk experience

-       Bachelors degree of related experience

-       Must be able to hold a government security clearance

Compensation for the Security Engineer includes:

-       Hourly rate: $40 - $50hr
