Piper Companies is seeking an experience Board-Certified Pathologist to join a clinical research leader advancing the future of medicine for a full-time, hybrid position located in Farmingdale, NY. The Pathologist will lead a comprehensive pathology department while providing expert diagnostic interpretation of surgical specimens and ensuring regulatory compliance across all laboratory operations for clinical trials.

Responsibilities of the Pathologist include:

  • Lead and oversee operations of a comprehensive Anatomic Pathology department, providing strategic direction for surgical pathology, cytopathology, and subspecialty services
  • Perform diagnostic evaluation and interpretation of surgical specimens, including gross examination and microscopic analysis, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide expert consultation and communicate findings to clinical teams and stakeholders
  • Maintain stringent quality control standards and ensure departmental compliance with CAP, CLIA, and institutional guidelines
  • Conduct required safety inspections, proficiency reviews, and quality assurance activities as Medical Director
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives while managing daily sign-out responsibilities and supervising technical staff 

Qualifications for the Pathologist include:

  • MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in Anatomic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology
  • Active or eligible for New York state medical license with demonstrated expertise in general surgical pathology
  • Peer Reviewed Studies experience preferred
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience managing anatomic pathology services including surgical pathology and cytopathology
  • Proven track record of accurate diagnostic evaluation and interpretation of surgical specimens with excellent attention to detail
  • Fellowship training in surgical pathology subspecialty (GI, Dermatology, Hematopathology) preferred but not required

 Compensation for the Pathologist:

  • Salary Range: $300,000/year - $350,000/year based on experience
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, sick leave if required by law, and 401K
