Piper Companies is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join a leading biotechnology firm. This hybrid position requires on-site presence three days per week in Silver Spring, Maryland.

 

Requirements of the Tax Manager:

  • Oversee federal, state, and international indirect tax compliance and planning, including sales/use and property taxes.
  • Manage tax processes for employee benefits, executive compensation, and payroll reporting.
  • Lead preparation and review of income tax provisions and ASC 740 disclosures.
  • Conduct tax research and create documentation to support compliance and planning.
  • Present tax strategies to leadership and collaborate across departments.
  • Administer exemption certificate processes and identify tax-saving opportunities.
  • Mentor team members, leveraging experience in public companies or top accounting firms.

Qualifications of the Tax Manager:

  • 7+ years of relevant tax experience, including expertise in state/local income and indirect taxes.
  • 5+ years working within a large, publicly traded multinational corporation.
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams.
  • Strong background in both direct and indirect taxation.
  • Experience with SAP ERP systems is preferred.
  • Experience managing tax fixed assets and using fixed asset software is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, along with a CPA license or Juris Doctor (JD) is required.

Compensation of the Tax Manager:

  • Salary range: $130,000 – $160,000, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid work model.
