The Pathologist will oversee a dynamic Anatomic Pathology department, ensuring precise diagnostic interpretation of surgical specimens while maintaining compliance with all laboratory regulations and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities of the Pathologist:
- Lead and manage the operations of a full-scale Anatomic Pathology department, guiding surgical pathology, cytopathology, and subspecialty services
- Conduct thorough evaluations of surgical specimens, including gross and microscopic analysis, to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Collaborate with clinical teams, providing expert consultation and clear communication of findings to support patient care
- Maintain strict quality control measures and uphold compliance with CAP, CLIA, and institutional standards
- Oversee safety inspections, proficiency reviews, and quality assurance procedures in the role of Medical Director
- Implement continuous improvement strategies while managing daily diagnostic responsibilities and supervising technical staff
Qualifications of the Pathologist:
- MD or DO degree with board certification or eligibility in Anatomic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology
- Active or eligible New York state medical license with expertise in general surgical pathology
- Demonstrated leadership in managing anatomic pathology services, including surgical pathology and cytopathology
- Proven ability to deliver precise diagnostic evaluations with keen attention to detail
- Fellowship training in a surgical pathology subspecialty (GI, Dermatology, Hematopathology) preferred but not required
