(FPE) Fire Protection Engineer - Practice Lead

Piper Health & Sciences is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) to serve as Practice Lead on a full-time basis. This position would be responsible for building and managing a new fire protection department at a highly respected engineering consulting firm with offices in Baltimore, MD (primary location) and Falls Church, VA.

Responsibilities for the Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) Include:

• Lead the development and review of fire protection design drawings and specifications
• Oversee the creation of technical reports, studies, and project proposals
• Supervise and mentor team members in alignment with company policies and industry standards
• Stay current on fire protection trends, technologies, materials, and best practices to enhance efficiency and innovation
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, owners, architects, and project stakeholders
• Collaborate effectively with internal and external engineering teams across disciplines
• Manage construction administration tasks, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, and site inspections
• Perform additional duties as needed

Qualifications for the Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) Include:

• PE license required in at least one state where the firm operates (DC, MD, or VA)
• Minimum 5 years experience in fire protection engineering across diverse project types
• B.S. in Engineering (preferred)
• FPE license preferred, or willingness to obtain (preferred)
• Prior project management experience and professional registration in multiple states (preferred)

Compensation for the Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) Includes:

• Approximately $100,000-$150,000 annually, depending on licensure and relevant experience.
