Principal Full Stack Engineer - ONSITE

Piper Companies is hiring a Principal Full Stack Engineer (ONSITE) for a large financial institution located in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The Principal Full Stack Engineer (ONSITE) will help to reimage the companies operations through a comprehensive migration to cloud-native infrastructure. The Principal Full Stack Engineer (ONSITE) will be a long term contract opportunity and the candidate will need to sit on site in Smithfield, Rhode Island 2 weeks per month.

Responsibilities for the Principal Full Stack Engineer (ONSITE):

• Build robust, scalable, and maintainable applications using Java and Spring/Spring Boot
• Develop cloud-native microservices on AWS leveraging EKS/ECS, S3, and CloudWatch
• Design and implement modernization pipelines to bridge data and workflows from Mainframe systems to AWS
• Create and maintain Kafka listeners and event-streaming solutions for data ingestion into CockroachDB
• Apply infrastructure-as-code principles using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Deliver end-to-end solutions including automated testing and CI/CD integration

Requirements for the Principal Full Stack Engineer (ONSITE:

• 7+ years of hands-on Java development with strong understanding of OOP principles, collections, and multithreading
• Proficiency in Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
• Solid cloud experience, particularly AWS services like EKS, ECS, S3, and CloudWatch
• Experience with event-driven architectures and Apache Kafka
• Familiarity with CockroachDB a plus
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience—Terraform preferred, CloudFormation acceptable
• Understanding of test automation and CI/CD pipelines

Compensation for the Principal Full Stack Engineer (ONSITE):

• $60.00 - $75.00 per hour
