Piper Companies is seeking a Research Veterinarian to join a fast growing leader in the biotechnology space for an onsite position located in Raleigh, NC. The Research Veterinarian will lead and support veterinary research initiatives by designing and conducting field and laboratory studies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing veterinary expertise to cross-functional product development efforts.

 

Responsibilities of the Research Veterinarian include:

  • Design, conduct, and analyze field trials and in vivo laboratory experiments to support research initiatives, ensuring adherence to established protocols and scientific rigor.
  • Provide veterinary expertise and services during research studies, including post-mortem evaluations, and contribute to the development of biological assays and novel delivery technologies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and research teams to inform product development, device design, and strategic direction from a veterinary and biological perspective.
  • Ensure compliance with animal welfare, biosecurity, and regulatory standards, including USDA guidelines, while promoting the ethical principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement).
  • Communicate research findings effectively through internal reports, stakeholder presentations, and participation in industry conferences and scientific forums.

 

Qualifications for the Research Veterinarian include:

  • 5–10 years of experience working with livestock (especially poultry and swine) in laboratory, field, or experimental settings, with a strong background in leading scientific research projects.
  • Proficient in regulatory compliance, including USDA CVB safety and efficacy study submissions, and experienced in managing complex, cross-functional projects and budgets.
  • Skilled in data tools and systems such as LIMS, Microsoft Excel, and Power BI, with the ability to analyze and communicate research findings effectively.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage teams, resolve conflicts, and influence outcomes.
  • Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an AVMA-accredited institution and licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the U.S.

 

 Compensation for the Research Veterinarian:

  • Salary Range: $80,000-$90,000/year (USD)
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, sick leave if required by law, and 401K
