Piper Companies is seeking an Accessibility Test Engineer who will be ensuring digital products are accessible and compliant through expert testing and assistive technology. The accessibility test engineer will be hybrid in San Jose, CA.


Responsibilities for the Accessibility Test Engineer include:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Accessibility Standards across desktop, mobile, and web platforms.
  • Experienced in software testing and UI usability, with strong knowledge of quality assurance processes and proficiency in PC-based tools and software.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, effective project management capabilities, and a strong aptitude for problem solving.
  • Conduct product testing aligned with Compliance policies and procedures.
  • Enhance best practices for accessible software design.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams during product development.
  • Document testing outcomes and create comprehensive test reports.

Requirements for the Accessibility Test Engineer include:

  • Solid understanding of WCAG 2.1 and 2.2, along with Section 508 compliance; familiarity with EN 301 549 is a plus.
  • Skilled in accessibility testing across desktop applications (Windows and macOS), web applications (across major browsers), and mobile platforms (iOS and Android).
  • Hands-on experience with assistive technologies including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
  • Ability to work onsite at Cisco’s San Jose campus (BLDG P, 125 West Tasman Drive) three days per week initially, with potential to increase to five days.
  • Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure accessibility standards are met throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Capable of documenting test results and contributing to accessibility compliance reporting.

Compensation for the Accessibility Test Engineer includes:

·       Salary range: $80,000 - $112,000

·       Comprehensive benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO, holidays, and sick leave as required by law.
