Piper Companies is hiring a Hardware Engineer for a large technology organization located in Raleigh, NC. The Hardware Engineer will focus on the development and deployment of hardware and firmware security technologies that improve security and trustworthiness of products. The Hardware Engineer will need to sit on site several days per week in the Raleigh, NC area and is a long term contract opportunity.
Responsibilities of the Hardware Engineer:
- Design, develop, document, and test hardware and firmware-based security technologies on CPU evaluation platforms and Cisco products.
- Support internal product teams in deploying secure hardware and software solutions.
- Create proof-of-concepts, reference code, and scripts to accelerate adoption and validation of security technologies.
- Participate in architecture reviews, HDL code reviews, and contribute to design specifications.
- Assess system architectures for vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
Requirements of the Hardware Engineer:
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- Up to 5 years of experience in FPGA design and/or verification using Verilog.
- Hands-on experience with embedded CPU systems and lab-based hardware debugging.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with board-level bring-up using lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, evaluation boards).
- Familiarity with x86 and ARM CPU architectures, boot processes, and bootstrap code.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Linux shell) for automation
Compensation for the Hardware Engineer:
- $30.00- $60.00 per hour depending on experience
