SOC Engineer 2

Piper Companies is hiring a SOC Engineer 2 for a large technology organization located in Morrisville, NC. The SOC Engineer 2 will play a critical role in defending our infrastructure and data against evolving cyber threats. The SOC Engineer 2 is a long term contract opportunity and will need to sit on site 2 days per week in Morrisville, NC.

Responsibilities for the SOC Engineer 2:

• Monitor and analyze security alerts and logs from SIEM platforms and other detection tools
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and suspicious activity
• Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to contain and remediate threats
• Develop and maintain incident response playbooks and documentation
• Conduct proactive threat hunting and enhance detection capabilities
• Support compliance initiatives (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA)
• Stay informed on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies

Requirements for the SOC Engineer 2:

• 3–5 years of experience in a SOC or cybersecurity operations role
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk preferred; Sentinel, QRadar, Elastic also valued)
• Strong understanding of network security, endpoint protection, and threat analysis
• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, and OWASP frameworks

Compensation for the SOC Engineer 2:

• $60.00 - $67.00/ hour
