Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join an established organization within the hospitality and travel technology industry for a fully remote permanent position supporting teams across the Eastern and Central time zones. The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, modernizing, and optimizing enterprise data platforms while serving as a hands-on technical leader. This Senior Data Engineer position is ideal for someone who enjoys owning architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and building scalable cloud-based data solutions.

Responsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer include:

· Design, develop, and enhance cloud-based data pipelines, integrations, and ETL processes that support reporting and operational initiatives.

· Lead technical decision-making related to data architecture, platform modernization, and long-term scalability strategies.

· Build and maintain data solutions utilizing Azure technologies, Python, SQL, and orchestration tools to improve reliability and efficiency.

· Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to translate business requirements into sustainable data solutions.

· Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and establish best practices around data quality, governance, and development standards.

Qualifications for the Senior Data Engineer include:

· 5+ years of professional data engineering experience with strong hands-on expertise in SQL and Python.

· Experience developing solutions within Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory or comparable cloud-based data platforms.

· Proven leadership experience in a small or midsized environment with involvement in architecture design and technical ownership.

· Strong understanding of ETL development, data modeling, API integrations (REST/SOAP), and enterprise data pipelines.

· Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, dbt, or C# is highly preferred.

Compensation for the Senior Data Engineer:

Salary Range: $130,000-$150,000/year (USD)
