Network Engineer (Load Balancing)

Piper Companies is currently seeking a Network Engineer (Load Balancing) to support a large hospital system in PA. This is a contract-to-hire role and is HYBRID in Philadelphia, PA (3 days on-site during the first couple of months, then can go mostly REMOTE).

*Candidates must currently reside in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware to be considered*

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable, redundant load balancing solutions for internal and external applications.
• Manage and maintain load balancer platforms including F5 BIG-IP, Citrix NetScaler, and/or NGINX.
• Collaborate with Network Security teams to ensure configurations meet security and compliance standards.
• Monitor traffic flows and optimize load distribution for performance and availability.
• Troubleshoot complex issues related to load balancing and backend connectivity.
• Support migration projects, upgrading legacy platforms to newer solutions.
• Serve as the go-to expert for all things load balancing within the network engineering team.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with one or more load balancer platforms: F5 BIG-IP, Citrix NetScaler, or NGINX.
• Proven experience designing or architecting load balancing solutions (not just operational use).
• Strong understanding of network protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and firewall/security principles.
• Experience working in environments with large-scale enterprise networks and mission-critical applications.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with network, security, and infrastructure teams.
• Familiarity with performance tuning, redundancy, and traffic monitoring tools.

Compensation:

• Base salary: up to $125,000 annually
