Backend Software Engineer

Piper Companies is hiring a Backend Software Engineer for a hybrid contract position with a leading provider of healthcare education and workforce development solutions located in Morrisville, NC. The Backend Software Engineer will focus on building and maintaining scalable backend systems using Python and Django, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities of the Backend Software Engineer:

• Architect, implement, and maintain backend systems using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to clarify requirements and manage backlog tasks.
• Optimize codebase for performance, scalability, and security using best practices.
• Create and maintain technical documentation to support development and operations.

Qualifications of the Backend Software Engineer:

• Minimum of 3 years of backend development experience with Python.
• At least 2 years of experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Proficiency in REST API development and Git version control.

Compensation for the Backend Software Engineer:

• Salary: $100,000-$110,000/year
• Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday, and Sick Leave if Required by Law
