Lead IAM Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer – Identity and Access Management (IAM) to join a leading homebuilding and mortgage organization. The Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for leading the Identity and Access Management (IAM) Program, implementing and optimizing Microsoft Entra ID solutions. This position is fully onsite in Reston, VA! 

Responsibilities of the Lead Systems Engineer – IAM include: 

• Lead the design, implementation, and management of Microsoft Entra ID and associated IAM technologies 

• Administer and optimize Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Privileged Identity Management (PIM) 

• Develop and enforce Conditional Access Policies (CAP) across hybrid environments 

• Manage Access Reviews and implement Just-in-Time (JiT) access protocols 

• Integrate and maintain Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Defender for Identity 

• Oversee Single Sign-On (SSO) configurations and Dynamic Group Management 

• Collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to align IAM strategy with business and compliance objectives 

• Engage with stakeholders across all levels to communicate IAM priorities, risks, and solutions 

Qualifications for the Lead Systems Engineer – IAM include: 

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on IAM 

• Deep expertise in Microsoft Entra ID, PAM, PIM, CAP, SSO, and Defender for Cloud 

• Strong understanding of cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, Microsoft 365) 

• Familiarity with regulatory compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO, SOX) 

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate effectively with stakeholders 

• Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing engineering talent 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field 

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate) are a plus 

Compensation for the Lead Systems Engineer – IAM includes: 

• Salary Range: $145,000 – $165,000 depending on experience
