Senior Full Stack Java Developer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer to join a respected provider of health, science, and technology solutions serving both government and commercial sectors. This position is in Laurel, MD and supports a multiyear IT modernization and transformation initiative for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). As part of an Agile DevSecOps team, you will design and deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing software solutions using Java Spring Boot and React.

Qualifications of the Senior Full Stack Java Developer Include:

• Develop and maintain full-stack applications leveraging Java Spring Boot for backend services and React for front-end interfaces.
• Participate in the full Agile application development lifecycle, including microservice API design and implementation.
• Work with relational databases (Postgres) and NoSQL databases (Redis).
• Implement automated unit testing using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, and Cucumber.
• Collaborate within Agile Scrum teams to complete user stories and deliver production-ready code with minimal supervision.
• Support acceptance testing, load testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning activities.
• Contribute to cross-functional teamwork and incremental feature development.
• Adhere to development standards and best practices; participate in regular code reviews.
• Communicate effectively with team members, management, and customers to explain functionality and resolve issues.
• Interface with external teams and stakeholders to demonstrate completed functionality and provide technical guidance.

Qualifications of the Senior Full Stack Java Developer Include:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain a Final Secret DoD clearance. *REQUIRED*
• Must be based in the DC-Baltimore area with ability to travel to office or customer sites as needed.

Education:

• Master’s degree in a related discipline + 4 years of experience, OR
• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline + 8 years of experience, OR
• 12–15 years of software development experience without a degree.

Experience:

• Full-stack development using Java Spring Boot and React.
• Microservice-based architecture.
• Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
• 3+ years of experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Skills:

• Docker and containerization.
• Apache Camel.
• Familiarity with DoD STIG compliance processes.

Compensation of the Senior Full Stack Java Developer Includes:

• Salary Range: $145,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year, based on experience and certifications
