Piper Companies is seeking an Bioconjugation Scientist in Philadelphia, PA to develop innovative conjugates for the treatment of serious life threating diseases.
The role will be lab based and onsite in Philadelphia, PA. This is a 6 month contract assignment with potential for extension or direct hire.
The candidate is expected to be proficient in chromatographic purification, and analytical characterization of large molecules such as proteins, antibodies and their conjugates
Responsibilities include:
- Design, plan, and execute experiments focused on bioconjugate synthesis (e.g., protein–small molecule, protein–peptide, protein–oligonucleotide, and protein–fluorophore conjugates).
- Perform protein/conjugate purification and characterization using modern separation techniques such as AKTA chromatography systems, SEC, IEX, HIC, affinity chromatography, and TFF.
- Analyze conjugates and biomolecules using LC-MS, HPLC, UV-Vis, SDS-PAGE gels, and RNA gels to assess purity, integrity, and molecular composition.
- Apply knowledge of bioconjugation chemistry in linker-payload design, and drug conjugate development to support pipeline projects.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of experiments, results, and data interpretation in an electronic lab notebook (ELN).
- Present findings in the department and company meetings
- Collaborate cross-functionally with chemistry, analytical, and biology teams to advance projects efficiently.
- · Uphold laboratory safety and quality standards consistent with company and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications include:
- BS or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with a minimum of two years of relevant industry experience in bioconjugate synthesis.
- Demonstrated experience in bioconjugate synthesis using chemical (maleimide, oxime, click, amide etc.) and enzymatic (Transglutaminase, Sortase etc.) methods; and protein/conjugate purification using AKTA/FPLC systems and diverse chromatographic techniques.
- Hands-on experience with SEC, LC-MS, SDS-PAGE, and RNA gel analysis.
- Proven ability to design, synthesize, and purify bioconjugates (mg – gram scale).
Compensation:
- $31/hr- $33/hr
