Piper Companies is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Metrology Technician to own and execute metrology activities in Raleigh, NC. This role ensures an audit-ready metrology program supporting clinical and commercial manufacturing. The position is both hands-on and strategic, requiring deep metrology expertise, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities of the Metrology Technician:
- Execute GMP instrumentation maintenance and calibration activities not performed by end users.
- Perform calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation per SOPs.
- Ensure strict compliance with cGMPs, documentation practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Support equipment owners with calibration specifications, problem-solving, and failure investigations.
- Drive improvements in calibration methods, standards, and specifications.
- Manage documentation changes for calibration-related SOPs and vendor records.
- Participate in on-call rotation; occasional nights/weekends required for facility support.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and collaborate with Facilities team.
- Interface with external customers and regulatory agencies during audits.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and workplace safety measures.
Qualifications of the Metrology Specialist:
- Associate’s degree in Engineering or Science or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical calibrations/metrology or other regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of cGMP, OSHA, EPA regulations and GMP quality systems.
- Expertise in metrology principles, instrumentation theory, and calibration methods.
- Experience with CMMS and supervising external calibration vendors.
- Familiarity with PLC, HVAC, and Building Monitoring Systems a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Compensation & Benefits of the Metrology Specialist:
- $75,000-$85,000, with bonuses!
