Piper Companies is seeking an VoIP Engineer to support a leading telecommunications company and assist with the migration from legacy TDM systems to modern VoIP/SIP technologies. The ideal VoIP Engineer must have an active Secret clearance and will be onsite in Norfolk, VA 5 days per week.
Responsibilities for the VoIP Engineer:
- Provide operational support for telephony systems across VoIP/SIP environments.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and analyzing SIP messaging.
- Diagnose and resolve issues at the SIP protocol level.
- Verify and ensure proper functionality of PBX features after implementation.
- Participate in lab testing, system validation, and deployment activities to ensure readiness for production environments.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of voice services.
Qualifications for the VoIP Engineer:
- 5+ years of experience in telephony or network engineering supporting enterprise-level voice systems.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with an active Secret clearance.
- Knowledge of PBX systems, including configuration and troubleshooting of features such as call waiting, call transfer, and IP-based settings.
- Experience with provisioning in Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
- Hands-on experience with telephony migrations, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
- Compliance with DoD 8140 and possession of CompTIA Security+ certification.
Compensation/Benefits for the VoIP Engineer:
- Salary Range: $95,000 – $115,000 annually (based on experience).
