Therapeutic Strategy Lead

Piper Companies is seeking a Therapeutic Strategy Lead to join a growing mid-sized CRO with global operations headquartered in Australia. This role is highly client-facing and responsible for developing scientifically sound, operationally practical, and commercially competitive strategies across key therapeutic areas: Oncology (solid tumors), CNS (neurodegenerative disorders), and Autoimmune (rheumatology, Crohn’s disease). This position is fully remote and requires working U.S.-based hours.

Responsibilities for the Therapeutic Strategy Lead:

• Act as the lead therapeutic expert for proposals, bid defenses, and early-stage study concepts, providing strategic guidance and risk mitigation recommendations.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with Principal Investigators (PIs), academic KOLs, and high-performing sites to drive enrollment and ensure data integrity.
• Deliver scientific oversight for protocol development, feasibility evaluations, and regulatory planning aligned with global standards of care.
• Convert therapeutic insights into actionable operational plans, including timelines, budgets, and vendor strategies.
• Mentor internal teams on therapeutic best practices and contribute to organizational thought leadership initiatives.

Requirements for the Therapeutic Strategy Lead:

• Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent); board certification not required.
• Deep scientific expertise with demonstrated credibility in clinical development and therapeutic strategy.
• Ability to engage directly with PIs and KOLs; an established network in relevant therapeutic areas is highly desirable.
• Experience in late-phase clinical programs and commercial strategy within a sponsor, CRO, or academic environment.

Compensation for the Therapeutic Strategy Lead:

• $300,000 – $400,000 base salary
