Network Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across large-scale environments for a client in the Columbia, MD area. This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule (2 days per week onsite).  

Responsibilities for the Network Engineer include: 

• Design, plan, and implement LAN and WAN solutions for enterprise environments. 
• Configure and maintain Cisco routers, switches (6500/4500/Nexus 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K), and Meraki wireless systems. 
• Manage enterprise-level WAN and Internet circuits, including inter-data center connectivity. 
• Implement and support network security technologies (Cisco Sourcefire IDPS, FTD; Zscaler; Cisco ISE; Palo Alto NGFWs; Palo Alto GPVPN; Cisco ACI; SilverPeak SD-WAN). 
• Configure and maintain Site-to-Site VPNs. 
• Perform network performance analysis using packet capture tools (Wireshark and similar). 
• Utilize SolarWinds for monitoring and troubleshooting. 
• Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures. 

Qualifications for the Network Engineer include: 

• 5+ years of experience managing and supporting large enterprise network environments. 
• Advanced knowledge of IP routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF) and TCP/IP networking. 
• Hands-on experience with Cisco hardware and technologies. 
• Strong understanding of network security principles and tools. 
• Experience with SD-WAN and VPN technologies. 
• Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE) are a plus. 

Compensation for the Network Engineer includes: 

• Salary Range: $110,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience.
