Network Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Engineer to design, configure, and support core components of the company’s enterprise data and voice networks. This role serves as a technical expert across project teams and ensures reliable delivery of networking and unified communications solutions. This position is hybrid in Columbia, Maryland.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement enterprise network and UC solutions

• Partner with project teams to define requirements and deliver on timelines

• Provide Tier 3 support for network and UC issues

• Maintain technical design and architecture documentation

• Assist with technology evaluations and vendor selection

• Support smooth service transition for Network and UC Operations

Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting large enterprise networks (LAN/WAN design, planning, implementation)

• Preferred certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CWNA

• Strong knowledge of Cisco, Palo Alto, Zscaler, Meraki, Cisco ACI, and SilverPeak SD-WAN

• Experience with S2S VPNs, Cisco routers/switches, and advanced routing (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF)

• Skilled with Wireshark and network performance analysis

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP and enterprise networking protocols

• Experience with Meraki wireless, SolarWinds; F5 LTM preferred

• Strong communication and vendor management skills; able to support off-hours work when needed
