Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to join a global leader in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology space for a remote permanent position. The Senior Director of Business Development will lead a high-performing team to drive new business growth through strategic planning, resource management, and sales leadership, focusing on the biotech and life sciences sectors. This role will manage 6–7 direct reports and drive revenue through strategic partnerships, client acquisition, and market expansion.

 

Responsibilities of the Senior Director of Business Development include:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6–7 business development professionals, fostering collaboration and excellence.
  • Set clear performance goals, provide ongoing coaching, and ensure accountability for KPIs.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within biotech, pharma, and clinical research markets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders to drive long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic planning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and senior leadership to support proposals, RFPs, and conferences.
  • Provide regular reporting on pipeline, forecasts, and team performance to executive leadership.

 

Qualifications for the Senior Director of Business Development include:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in business development or sales within biotech, life sciences, or clinical research.
  • Proven track record of managing and growing high-performing teams in a competitive market.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Expertise in sales methodologies, budgeting, proposals, and contract negotiations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).

 

 Compensation for the Senior Director of Business Development:

  • Salary Range: $230,000-$260,000/year (USD) + commission and bonus
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, sick leave if required by law, and 401K
