Piper Companies is hiring a Therapeutic Strategy Lead for a full-time, fully remote role with a global clinical research organization. This position shapes therapeutic-area strategy, influences clinical program design, and builds strong partnerships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and high-performing sites. As the senior scientific authority for one or more therapeutic areas, the Therapeutic Strategy Lead collaborates closely with business development, clinical operations, regulatory, and medical teams to deliver innovative and commercially viable solutions.
Responsibilities of the Therapeutic Strategy Lead:
- Provide scientific and therapeutic guidance for protocol design, feasibility evaluations, and advisory board activities, ensuring alignment with global standards of care and trends in late-stage development.
- Serve as the primary subject-matter expert throughout client interactions—including proposals, bid defenses, and early-stage concept meetings—offering rationale, risk-mitigation strategies, and competitive intelligence.
- Cultivate and sustain strategic relationships with academic experts, investigators, and clinical sites; lead site-selection and enrollment strategies to enhance overall trial performance.
- Translate therapeutic expertise into actionable operational plans, including timelines, budgets, monitoring frameworks, and vendor recommendations for global execution.
- Advise on regulatory strategy, endpoint selection, safety oversight, and comparator approaches to support payer expectations and labeling objectives.
- Mentor internal teams on scientific best practices and contribute to thought-leadership initiatives and capability development across the organization.
Qualifications of the Therapeutic Strategy Lead:
- Advanced degree in a clinical or scientific field (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent); board certification or clinical practice experience strongly preferred.
- Significant drug-development experience, ideally involving leadership in late-phase programs or strategic roles within a sponsor, CRO, or academic institution.
- Demonstrated credibility and strong relationships with KOLs, investigators, and clinical sites within the relevant therapeutic area.
- Experience developing study designs and supporting commercial proposals, balancing scientific integrity with operational and business considerations.
Compensation & Benefits of the Therapeutic Strategy Lead:
- Salary: $350,000–$390,000
- Benefits: Comprehensive package including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, holidays, and legally required sick time.
