Piper Companies is seeking a Director of Infrastructure to join a life insurance company, through hybrid work in Frederick, MD . This position will lead strategic CHANGE initiatives, driving the evolution of infrastructure to align with both technology and business growth objectives. You will define and own the future-state architecture while championing modern practices, including agile methodologies, to accelerate transformation and deliver enterprise-wide value.


Responsibilities of the Director of Infrastructure:

• Work with cybersecurity to strengthen security posture and foster a security-aware culture.

• Define SLAs/OKRs, close capability gaps, and ensure compliance through ongoing monitoring.

• Manage vendor relationships to meet contractual and performance commitments.

• Oversee hardware/software assets and network inventory, address infrastructure risks, and report mitigation plans.

• Collaborate with IT leadership to allocate resources, manage budgets, and prioritize technical debt.

• Research emerging technologies, recommend solutions, forecast capacity, and support scalable growth planning.


Qualifications for the Director of Infrastructure include: 

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent.

• Technical certifications (Ex: MSCE, MCP, MOS, CCNA, CCDA, CISSP, CISM, ITIL, COBIT etc.)

• Senior position: 5+ years of leadership experience, 15+ years of infrastructure experience

• 3+ years’ experience of public cloud like Azure, AWS.

• Proven ability to manage and engage stakeholders across all organizational levels.

• Demonstrated experience overseeing budgets of $5M or more, with strong financial controls and reporting practices.


Compensation for the Director of Infrastructure includes:

• Salary Range: $157,100 - $227,800 annually

• Comprehensive Benefits: Hybrid Work, Annual Incentive Plan, Sign-on bonus and long-term incentives possible, health, life, and dental insurance, 401K with company match up to 6% as well as a pension package, generous time off, and wellbeing initiatives throughout the year
