Piper Companies is seeking a Lead Engineer to support a fast‑growing organization in the insurance industry. The Lead Engineer role will manage vendor applications, guide development teams, and contribute to both architecture and hands‑on software development. The Lead Engineer will need to sit on sit 3 days per week in Durham, NC.
Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer:
- Design end‑to‑end technical solutions and support the development of the technology roadmap.
- Evaluate system components, propose modernization strategies, and drive implementation.
- Lead the development team in the design and delivery of scalable technical solutions.
- Architect secure and maintainable applications using Node.js, React, TypeScript, AWS Lambda, SQS, SES, and related cloud services.
- Manage SaaS and vendor platforms including Zendesk (CRM), SmartCom (CCM), and Axway (MFT).
- Build, configure, and support internal applications and integrations.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines and code workflows using Bitbucket and automation tools.
- Maintain documentation and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and governance standards.
Requirements of the Lead Engineer:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with previous technical lead responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (required).
- Experience configuring and supporting CRM, CCM, and MFT platforms (Zendesk, SmartCom, Axway, etc.).
- Hands‑on engineering experience with Node.js, React, TypeScript, AWS Lambda, SQS, SES, and cloud‑native services.
- Experience mentoring engineers, managing workloads, and supporting performance review processes.
Compensation for the Lead Engineer:
- $125,000 - $135,000 base salary
- Full Comprehensive Benefits: Health, Vision, Dental, PTO, Paid Holiday and Sick Leave if Required by Law.
