Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET)

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test (SDET) to support a major technology modernization program for a large enterprise based in Smithfield, RI or Merrimack, NH. In this role, you will build and enhance automated testing frameworks, embed quality practices into CI/CD pipelines, and work closely with engineering teams to deliver stable, scalable, and high‑quality software solutions. This hybrid role requires the candidate to sit onsite 2–3 days per week at either location of Smithfield, RI or Merrimack, NH.

Responsibilities for the Senior Software Engineer in Test include:

• Design, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks and suites for REST APIs, backend services, UI applications, and data validation using SQL/PostgreSQL, while integrating automation into Jenkins‑based CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with developers to enhance testability, drive shift‑left testing practices, and contribute to code reviews to ensure high‑quality automation across Agile teams.
• Create comprehensive test plans, strategies, acceptance criteria, and documentation to validate functionality, performance, and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot defects, perform root‑cause analysis, and provide clear remediation guidance to support reliable and scalable software delivery.

Requirements for the Senior Software Engineer in Test include:

• 6–10 years of SDET or automation engineering experience with strong programming skills in Java and/or Python, along with proficiency in automated testing for REST APIs, services, and UI frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience with Jenkins, GitHub, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and strong SQL/PostgreSQL skills, with proven success working in Agile environments.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Compensation for the Senior Software Engineer in Test:

· Compensation based on experience
