Piper Companies is seeking a Lead Engineer for a high‑visibility technology team in Durham, NC. The Lead Engineer will design and implement technical solutions, lead development efforts, support enterprise SaaS platforms, and collaborate closely with IT and business groups across the organization. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite per week in Durham, NC.

Responsibilities for the Lead Engineer include:
· Design end‑to‑end technical solutions and contribute to the technology roadmap
· Lead development efforts for customization, integration, and enhancement of internal SaaS applications
· Architect scalable solutions using React, Node.js, AWS, and DynamoDB
· Oversee engineering deliverables and provide hands‑on technical guidance to onshore and offshore developers
· Manage and support vendor‑based platforms such as CRM, CCM, and MFT tools
· Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket and automation tooling
· Collaborate with IT and business teams to translate requirements into technical designs
· Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering best practices, and mentor developers
· Troubleshoot production issues and lead root‑cause analysis across application and integration systems
· Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, documentation standards, and governance
· Drive full SDLC execution, including planning, development, testing, deployment, and stabilization
Requirements for the Lead Engineer include:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
· 5–8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering
· Strong full‑stack development skills with React, Node.js, AWS services, JavaScript, and DynamoDB
· Experience working internally within an organization supporting IT and business teams
· Prior experience delivering customization, integration, and enhancement work for SaaS platforms
· Interest in leading a small development team, including onshore and offshore resources
· Strong communication, analytical, and decision‑making skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
· Must be eligible to work in the United States
Compensation for the Lead Engineer:
· $130,000 annual salary
· 10% bonus
· 7.5% long‑term incentive plan
· Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and sick leave as required by law
