Senior DevOps Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a growing organization in the fintech industry. The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for driving cloud infrastructure excellence, automation, and reliability across complex AWS environments while working in a hybrid capacity onsite in Raleigh, NC

Responsibilities of the Senior DevOps Engineer:

• Manage highly scalable and available distributed systems in AWS environments

• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, system deployments, and operational tasks using Terraform and other automation tools

• Support, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes environments—specifically EKS on AWS

• Oversee EC2 lifecycle management, patching, and vulnerability remediation

• Administer Linux systems and contribute to ongoing performance tuning and troubleshooting

• Manage S3 storage policies, lifecycle rules, and operational processes

• Support Postgres database operations, including performance and maintenance tasks

• Work within ELK stack environments for logging and observability support

Qualifications of the Senior DevOps Engineer:

• 6+ years of experience working across a broad AWS ecosystem (must already possess strong cloud fundamentals; not teachable at this level)

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes—specifically EKS in AWS

• Strong experience with EC2 management and vulnerability remediation

• Advanced Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code skillset

• Proven history managing AWS environments end‑to‑end

• Strong Linux administration experience (Windows experience is a plus)

• Experience with S3 storage management and policy configuration

• Postgres experience in production environments

• Exposure to the ELK stack for logging, metrics, and observability

• Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

Compensation for the Senior DevOps Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $125,000 – $140,000 depending on experience

• Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO

• Hybrid work environment—onsite Tuesday through Thursday in Raleigh, NC
