Overview
We are seeking a Controls & Warehouse Automation Engineer with first-hand experience integrating PLC-driven automation with enterprise warehouse management systems. This role straddles operational technology (OT) and IT, requiring seamless interaction between warehouse automation equipment, WCS platforms, and systems such as SAP EWM. This role requires an employee to be onsite 5 days a week with core business hours from 8:00a - 4:00p.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the testing, commissioning, and debugging of PLC-controlled warehouse automation systems.
- Translate functional requirements from SAP EWM or other WMS into real-time WCS and equipment-level commands.
- Validate correct routing, material flow logic, and execution of warehouse orders across automated systems.
- Integrate automation systems with enterprise IT infrastructure including Active Directory and secure network environments.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC programs, preferably within Siemens environments.
- Work with commercial or custom Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
- Serve as a subject matter expert on how WCS platforms coordinate between WMS and physical automation such as PLCs, SCADA, conveyors, robotics, and other MHE.
Qualifications
- Proven experience commissioning and debugging automated warehouse systems integrated with WMS/EWM platforms.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure / cybersecurity for industrial automation environments.
- Advanced PLC programming skills; Siemens experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of at least one major WCS platform or equivalent custom system.
- Deep functional understanding of how warehouse management, control, and automation layers interact.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in highly automated distribution centers, logistics operations, or advanced manufacturing.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, industrial networking, or OT/IT convergence initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, operations, and systems integrators.
Compensation
- Target Comp: $70/hr, W2
