Piper Companies is seeking an experienced Principal Scientist to support a global organization within the life sciences and analytical research industry. This permanent, onsite role is based in Whitesboro, NY and offers the opportunity to lead advanced analytical studies while collaborating across multidisciplinary project teams and client programs.
Key Responsibilities of the Principal Scientist:
- Lead hands-on LCMS and LCMS/MS experimental work, ensuring accurate data generation, analysis, and interpretation
- Collaborate with project management to define study scope, timelines, deliverables, and technical objectives
- Present analytical results and project updates to internal stakeholders and external clients
- Identify and implement improvements to laboratory workflows, analytical methods, and scientific documentation
- Contribute to scientific publications and participate in workshops, seminars, or technical forums to advance expertise
Required Qualifications of the Principal Scientist:
- 5+ years of hands-on laboratory experience with LCMS platforms, including Sciex LCMS/MS systems
- Strong working knowledge of Skyline, in‑silico analysis tools, and protein sequencing software
- Advanced degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline (PhD strongly preferred)
- Proven ability to interpret complex protein and peptide data and communicate findings clearly
- Experience working directly with clients and cross-functional teams to support scientific and analytical goals
Compensation & Benefits of the Principal Scientist:
- Salary Range: $100,000–$120,000 per year (USD)
- Benefits Package: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and sick leave (where required by law)
