Piper Companies is seeking a A&P Structures Mechanic to join a well‑established aerospace, defense, and engineering services company headquartered in Hagerstown, MD, specializing in aircraft modifications, airborne systems testing, ISR support, government mission training, and engineering solutions. The A&P Structures Mechanic is responsible for carrying out structural repairs, modifications, fabrication tasks, and detailed inspections to support aircraft maintenance activities and ensure ongoing mission readiness. This position will be on-site in Hagerstown, MD five days a week!
Responsibilities of the A&P Structures Mechanic include:
- Structural Maintenance & Modification
- Perform structural repairs, alterations, and upgrades using approved FAA documentation and engineering schematics.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install aircraft structural components utilizing precision measurement instruments.
- Conduct both routine and unscheduled structural inspections, identifying damage, discrepancies, corrosion, or fatigue-related issues.
- Remove and replace skins, ribs, frames, doublers, and composite components in full compliance with OEM specifications and FAA regulations.
- Execute structural rework, fit‑ups, alignments, and fabrication tasks that demand high‑accuracy, close‑tolerance workmanship.
- Technical and Operation Support
- Diagnose and resolve structural and related mechanical issues on the airframe.
- Support production timelines to ensure aircraft are delivered on schedule.
- Safely operate ground support equipment such as tugs, lifts, stands, and hoists.
- Assist with aircraft towing, positioning, leveling, jacking, and overall movement.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to suggest design improvements and process enhancements.
- Quality and Compliance
- Complete all maintenance documentation and records in full compliance with FAA, IPC, and ATA guidelines.
- Ensure all structural tasks meet required airworthiness, quality, and safety standards.
- Adhere to all FOD control, tooling protocols, and QA procedures throughout maintenance operations.
- Tools and Skills
- Strong structural and sheet‑metal capabilities, including precision drilling, riveting, bonding, and composite repair techniques.
- Skilled in the use of rivet guns, bucking bars, calipers, micrometers, digital measurement devices, and standard fabrication tools.
- Solid knowledge of aircraft mechanical and structural systems.
- Familiar with FAA regulatory requirements, IPC references, and ATA coding standards.
Qualifications/Non Negotiables for the A&P Structures Mechanic include:
- 3+ years of structural aircraft maintenance and modification experience.
- Experience with aircraft movement (towing, positioning, etc.).
- Strong understanding of aircraft mechanical and structural systems.
- Working knowledge of FAA regulations, IPC, and ATA codes.
- Valid driver’s license; must pass DOT/FAA‑regulated drug screening.
- Ability to obtain a passport.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Airframe Certificate required.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- A&P Certificate.
- 6+ years of aircraft structural maintenance experience.
- Experience with King Air B350 structural modifications.
- Prior experience training or mentoring junior technicians.
Compensation for the A&P Structures Mechanic include:
- Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
