Piper Companies is seeking an LCMS Scientist to support complex bioanalytical and proteomics workflows leveraging LC-MS/MS. The LCMS Scientist will contribute to method development, data interpretation, publications, and cross-functional project delivery while driving process improvement and providing high-quality client communication. This is a 5 days a week onsite posiiton in Whitesboro, NY.
Responsibilities
- Execute bench-level LCMS workflows, including sample preparation, instrument operation, data acquisition, and QC for targeted and untargeted analyses.
- Provide status updates on work in progress and estimate time needed for tasks, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
- Partner with the Project Manager to develop timelines for procedures, tasks, goals, and completion dates.
- Interpret, summarize, and present study results; communicate study status and outcomes to internal stakeholders and clients.
- Prepare scientific publications, posters, and internal documentation; attend seminars and workshops to expand professional capabilities.
- Build strong relationships with team members and clients to ensure optimal service, deliverables, and repeatability of results.
- Identify issues and propose workable solutions, contributing to a culture of continuous process improvement.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Assist in defining and optimizing laboratory and data analysis processes to enhance throughput and data integrity.
- Travel up to 5 percent domestically and/or internationally as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on bench experience in an LCMS laboratory environment.
- Proficiency with LC-MS/MS, preferably Sciex platforms, including method setup, tuning, calibration, and routine maintenance.
- Experience with Skyline for method development, quantitation, and data review.
- Familiarity with in-silico and protein sequencing software tools used in proteomics and biotherapeutic characterization.
- Strong background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field; advanced degree preferred with PhD as a plus.
- Proven ability to interpret complex datasets, summarize findings, and communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated track record of process improvement, problem solving, and collaborative teamwork in a regulated or quality-focused environment.
Additional Details
- Travel requirement: approximately 5 percent, domestic and/or international.
- Comp: 100-120K annually
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
