Technical Writer

Piper Companies is seeking a Technical Writer to join a cloud technology organization supporting enterprise and government-focused environments for a fully remote contract opportunity aligned to EST or CST working hours. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating and managing technical content, improving internal knowledge resources, and supporting communication efforts across cloud operations and platform engineering teams.

Responsibilities of the Technical Writer include:

· Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, operational procedures, and knowledge base content for cloud-based platforms.

· Partner with engineering and operational teams to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly materials.

· Assist with tracking and documenting platform changes, system enhancements, release updates, and known issues.

· Support incoming requests by gathering requirements, providing guidance, and ensuring appropriate follow-up with stakeholders.

· Manage documentation updates and support activities within Jira, Confluence, and GitHub to maintain accuracy and consistency.

Qualifications for the Technical Writer include:

· 3+ years of experience in technical writing, documentation management, technical support, or knowledge management.

· Working knowledge of AWS services such as IAM, EC2, VPC, S3, and CloudWatch.

· Experience utilizing Confluence and Jira for documentation, workflow tracking, and collaboration.

· Familiarity with GitHub, Markdown, version control concepts, and documentation review processes.

· Strong ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Experience supporting cloud operations, platform engineering teams, or enterprise technology environments preferred.

· Exposure to FedRAMP environments, project coordination responsibilities, diagramming tools, or light scripting in Python or Bash is a plus.

Compensation for the Technical Writer:

· Pay Range: $50-$75/hour
