Piper Companies is seeking an IT Automation Project Manager to support one of our partners in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry for a 12-month contract based out of Clayton, NC. The IT Automation Project Manager will oversee a portfolio of automation initiatives within a regulated GMP environment, ensuring successful delivery across cross‑functional technical teams.
Responsibilities of the IT Automation Project Manager include:
· Oversee full‑cycle execution of IT automation initiatives within GMP manufacturing operations.
· Guide cross‑functional project teams, coordinating tasks, timelines, and communication across technical groups.
· Monitor project performance and proactively resolve issues that impact scope, schedule, or resources.
· Ensure equipment installation, troubleshooting, qualification, and validation activities align with project expectations.
· Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process gaps and initiating new project opportunities.
Qualifications for the IT Automation Project Manager include:
· At least five years of experience working with IT automation systems in a technical capacity.
· Minimum of five years supporting manufacturing operations within a pharmaceutical or similarly regulated environment.
· Demonstrated success managing complex technical projects from initiation through completion.
· Strong knowledge of DCS, PLC, SCADA, MES platforms, and standard IT/OT automation technologies.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including MS Project, and strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities.
Compensation for the IT Automation Project Manager:
Salary Range: $160,000-$180,000/year (USD)
