Network Security Migration Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Network Security Migration Engineer to support a major cybersecurity‑industry client in executing complex firewall and security platform migrations. The Network Security Migration Engineer role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep experience migrating from competitor firewall platforms into next‑generation security technologies.

Responsibilities of the Network Security Migration Engineer:

• Work full‑time in a remote capacity supporting customer integration and migration initiatives.

• Configure, implement, and maintain next‑generation firewall and security management platforms.

• Optimize and scale firewall and centralized management solutions.

• Migrate policies, objects, and configurations from competitor systems into modern NGFW environments.

• Conduct testing, validation, and cutover execution for migration deployments.

• Provide guidance on code upgrades, optimization, and best practices.

• Assist in developing application and threat signatures when necessary.

• Work with technical support centers to diagnose and resolve complex issues.

• Build confidence with customer network and security teams throughout the transformation process.

Qualifications of the Network Security Migration Engineer:

• Extensive hands‑on experience migrating from competitor firewalls into next‑generation firewall platforms (automation/scripting experience preferred).

• Strong experience with centralized management platforms and log collection systems.

• Expertise with NGFW, Panorama‑type solutions, and cloud security management platforms.

• Secondary experience with remote‑access tools similar to GlobalProtect.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business, or equivalent experience/training.

• 5+ years of experience with network/security technologies (BGP, SD‑WAN, VXLAN, routing/switching).

• 3+ years leading enterprise‑scale security solution implementations.

• Strong background in installation, configuration, and operation of high‑end firewall appliances.

• Solid understanding of LAN, WAN, internet protocols, and modern security architectures.

• Preferred certifications: CISSP, CCNA, CNSE, JNCIE‑SEC, vendor‑specific certifications.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to present to senior technical and leadership teams.

• Demonstrated consulting experience with planning, customer interaction, and problem‑solving.

Compensation for the Network Security Migration Engineer includes:

• Salary range: $140,000 - $160,000
