Piper Companies is seeking a Regional Business Development Director (CRO) for a full-time remote role to support and oversee our U.S. commercial expansion within a global clinical research organization. This leadership position will direct regional growth strategy, manage and mentor Business Development Directors, and ensure success in securing large-scale clinical trial programs across biotech and pharmaceutical clients. This is a full-time opportunity and the individual must sit on the West coast, ideally in California.
Responsibilities for the Regional Business Development Director (CRO) include:
· Lead, develop, and execute strategies to expand the CRO’s footprint across the U.S. market, with a strong focus on biotech and pharma organizations.
· Oversee and guide Business Development Directors through the full sales cycle for high-value accounts
· Build and maintain senior‑level client relationships to support long-term partnerships and multi-program engagements.
· Collaborate closely with internal operational, scientific, and delivery teams to ensure exceptional service, alignment, and client satisfaction across all regional accounts.
· Represent the CRO in high‑level proposals, bid defenses, and strategic client discussions, while also coaching team members on effective presentation and negotiation strategies.
Qualifications for the Regional Business Development Director (CRO) include:
· 8–15 years of progressive experience in CRO sales or business development leadership.
· Strong understanding of clinical trial operations, market dynamics, and the biotech/pharmaceutical landscape.
· Proven ability to manage and coach teams responsible for complex, high-value deals within the CRO sector.
· Excellent leadership, communication, strategic planning, and relationship‑building skills.
· Therapeutic Areas of focus include Oncology, Immunology, and Neurology.
Compensation for the Regional Business Development Director (CRO) includes:
· Salary range: $210,000 - $250,000
