Senior Devops Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a highly skilled infrastructure and cloud operations team within a fast‑moving environment. This is a hands‑on senior role focused on AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform, and end‑to‑end environment management. Ideal candidates come from smaller organizations where they’ve worn multiple hats and owned large portions of infrastructure themselves.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will need to work hyrbid ( 3 days a week) in Raleigh, NC. Must be eligible to work in the US.

Requirements For the Senior DevOps Engineer

• 6+ years of hands‑on AWS experience across a broad range of services (must already be fully cloud‑proficient)
• Kubernetes expertise with EKS in AWS
• Strong Terraform experience creating and maintaining IaC
• EC2 administration and addressing security findings / vulnerability remediation
• Linux systems administration
• S3 management, policies, and storage operations
• Postgres database experience
• Exposure to ELK stack
• Must live within 30 miles of Raleigh
• Must be able to work onsite Tue–Thu
• Must participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation after training
• Must be elgible to work in the US.

Responsibilities for the Senior Devops Engineer:

• Own cloud network design, infrastructure maintenance, and security operations
• Build new cloud infrastructure and maintain existing environments
• Remediate vulnerabilities, patch systems, and ensure operational reliability
• Handle standalone infrastructure + security work (not paired with dev teams)
• Support on‑call rotation (every ~3rd week after training; typically 3–4 pages/month)
• Participate in secondary escalation rotation for critical business applications
• Perform occasional infrastructure maintenance, including rare Sunday upgrades (1–2 times/year)
• Support major upgrade initiatives as the team advances cloud maturity
• Work in a small DevOps group of four supporting eight development teams and ~50 contractors

• Onsite requirement: Tuesday–Thursday in Raleigh

Compensation: $125,000 - $140,000 annually
