Piper Companies is seeking a Software Engineer to join us in Mclean, Va. The Software Engineer will be responsible for designing software solutions to improve traffic safety.
Responsibilities of the Software Engineer include:
- Traffic analysis: Study how traffic moves through roadway links, intersections & entire transportation networks
- Design solutions to improve traffic safety: Smart signals, sensors, automated traffic management, operational improvements, infrastructure upgrades
- Traffic modeling & Simulating: Run simulation software, build traffic scenarios, use hardware in the loop systems, develop scripts or code to automate or customize solutions, work with API’s to conduct modes, tools, or systems
- Testing & Validation: Test accuracy of traffic models, Simulation performance, functionality of ITS Systems and equipment
Qualifications for the Software Engineer include:
- Basic understanding of robotics & Autonomous systems and technologies
- Strong skills in Python and Linux environments (C++ preferred)
- Experience with unit and integration testing to support CI workflows
- Competency with data interface adapters (ex: JSON or XML) and API integrations
- Experience using Git for version control
- 3-7 years of experience in related field
- Bachelors degree in IT related field
Compensation for the Software Engineer include:
- Salary: $110,000-170,000 Depending on experience
- Location: Mclean, VA
